South Glasgow Arts and Well-being Network

To help celebrate the recent world community arts day which took place on 17 Feb 2012, the network wanted to
highlight some of our recent work. One of our partners, SAMH (Scottish Association of Mental
Health) have been running a initiative, encouraging people to get healthy with their “Get Active” campaign while having fun as well.
The photography exhibition opposite were the result of a partnership between Neil Munro and Crawford McGugan
(one of the curators at Glasgow Life’s Open Museum), who arranged for Neil’s photos to be displayed at the Civic Realm in Pollok.
Neil through the support of the SAMH west Outreach and Bridgework team, took part in a series of walks and
completed a portfolio of photographs featuring parts of the river Clyde that he had spent time on when homeless in the past.
The exhibition will be rotated to display the range of work that Neil has undertaken and an opening day has been
arranged at the Civic Realm for friends and family and other community groups (including “Rag Tales” sewing group to
attend and displayed their own work – making a very stimulating celebration.
Neil’s exhibition is one of a series of events, workshop and performances produced by members of the network.
For further information on “Get Active”, please contact

Bridgeworker Tommy Black at SAMH.
