40 years of Charnwood Arts, Kev Ryan

Busy busy busy…so slightly in advance of the day this year as I’m off to Tainan on the 17th February to talk about a project which may involve many hundreds if not thousands of people. We’ve been working on joint community/participatory arts projects with partners there for a few years now. I wanted to share this celebratory image and some images of recent work with everyone before I go…it seems like yesterday that we celebrated 25 years and only last night that we celebrated 30 years…the last ten years have flown!

INVITATION 9th World Community Arts Day

World Community Arts Day 17/02/16

” ART AS A CATALYST FOR CARING AND SHARING”

To create a World Festival Society for a day.
” We can either react in fear or anger to the state of our world thus becoming part of the problem or respond creatively and become part of the solution.”

You are invited to be part of a global celebration on 17/02/16.

All we ask of you on that day is to do an arts project, however small or big. Be creative about an issue that you believe promotes “caring and sharing”. Song, dance, theatre, draw, paint, write, make, poem, photograph, lecture, walk, tour, talk, art class anyway that you feel you are creative!

The first years have seen WCAD grow from a celebration of Reg Bolton to a global event. All we ask of you on that day is to do an art’s project, however small or large to mark this day. If you can mark the event on your website in the build up to it that would be great too. It is going to be our biggest yet.

PLEASE GO TO WEBPAGE TO SEE EXAMPLES OF WHAT HAS HAPPENED IN PREVIOUS YEARS

PLEASE PASS ON.

Cockenzie House Art and Craft Open Day, East Lothian, Scotland, UK.

We celebrated WCA Day at Cockenzie House and Gardens with an Art and Craft Open Day + Swapshop. We tried new techniques and we swopped our skills. In the morning the talented Sheila guided us through making handmade origami books. Then in the afternoon the East Lothian RVS arrived with an influx of their ladies who tried their hands at crafts new to them and still managed to have time to enjoy that tea and cake.
